Bye Bye Liz!!
Liz has left us for good :( Well, left Australia for good...not the world. She got back into Melbourne on Tuesday night, stayed for two nights and then left our house at 5 this morning to get to the airport - its 1030 now and I think her flight was at 855am, so she's on her way back to see you Canadian people.

Labor Day long weekend
This past weekend was a long weekend - Saterday we walked around a bit, went to the library bought the mouse trap, I rented a movie to watch while Conor was gone playing hockey, and then we went to Alex's house to play poker in the evening.
I don't even remember what we did Sunday - went to mass in the morning and the rest is a blur - Conor had another hockey game but I stayed home.
Monday was Labor Day so I had the day off – but I hadn’t really thought about it being a long weekend until Sunday morning. We were thinking of what we wanted to do and decided that if our friend Ally (the one that I go to the gym with, that lives a couple blocks away and that we do Tuesday night movie nights with) wasn’t busy, maybe she would take us on an adventure! So I left a message on her phone asking if she wasn’t busy for the day if she wanted to do something and to just call me back. She was available and more than happy to get out of the city and do something for the day! She drove us out to an area called the Yarra Valley where there a many many wineries and vineyards. It’s about an hour out of town, and we actually got to see some hills-“mountains”. It started off really cold but turned out to be a really nice day – great for driving around. We stopped at a handful of wineries, Ally and Conor got to do some wine tasting – we also drove to this little town and just had lunch at a bakery (most of the wineries have cafes and restaurants, but averaging $17 for lunch – a little too much for us!) There was this one vineyard called De Bortoli’s where they make this desert wine called “Noble One”

A few months ago at Conor’s school, the deans husband did a little wine tasting afternoon with students and one of the wines was Noble One – he officially got all of them hooked on it! I had bought a bottle for Conor for his birthday – so since we were in the area we stopped off at De Bortoli and Ally and Conor got to taste Noble one and a few other wines.

It was a really nice afternoon – nice to get out of the city and see some of the “country-side”. Afterwards we grabbed some food and headed back to Ally’s and had a bbq, and then rented “Little Miss Sunshine” – yay for long weekends!!
Aaak, Mouse!!
So the other day, I’m on the couch enjoying a tv show, when Conor makes the big mistake of informing that there is a mouse in the kitchen!!
We got a couple of mouse traps and set one out with peanut butter on it – we left the house or something and came back only to find that the peanut butter was gone, but the mouse hadn’t set off the trap.
This happened again the next night! So finally on Monday night Conor decided to put less peanut butter on the trap and there was a little fork looking thing that was where the food went so he put it underneath kind of, so that the mouse would really have to work for it.
We were again watching tv Monday night and Conor was playing with the other trap that we hadn’t used yet – a little later on I heard a trap go off, and just assumed that it was the one Conor had been playing with – UNTIL I looked up at him and he had this shocked look on his face and I realized that it was the other mouse trap that went off, and then I could hear the mouse moving around a bit!
I proceeded to run into the bedroom and put the cover over my head while Conor disposed of the “baby rat” – too big to be a mouse, but not big enough to be a full grown rat.
I’m officially creeped out – we’ll put the other trap out tonight just in case there are more – pray that there are no more!
