Lazy and Preoccupied

Sorry for the lack of posts...I've been lazy and preoccupied lately

3 months til we come home!!

Anyways, maybe tonight I will put all the pics from my camera onto my computer and update this thing at the same time...but don't count on it.

This month will be crazy busy...I'm taking on extra shifts to make up for missed shifts from last month. So I will only have Monday afternoons and Thursday off - hopefully I don't burnout!

Okay, ta-ta

It's Official

I just booked our tickets!

We will be landing in Canada at 5pm July 31st!!

Oh my goodness, that just seems sooo quick, I can hardly believe it.

Well we went to the footy game on Friday, it was a pretty good game. We were watching the St Kilda Saints vs Essendon Bombers. Conor was very sad when he found out his "boyfriend" Fraser Gerhig wasn't going to be playing for the Saints.

The second, and especially the third, quarter were really good...but St Kilda ended up kicking butt.

Saterday was a hotish day out (about 25), kind of smoggy with pre-burns going on, so we went out to the beach. It was nice and relaxing and Conor found $1.30, so he was happy! After that we went to Alex and Helen's for a night of pizza and poker. It was also that last time we got to see Monica as she is flying out to London on Friday :(

Sunday morning, 4:30am, I woke up not feeling very good. I ended up being sick all night, and nauseous through the day :( It was NOT fun...anyone who knows me knows I HATE throwing up. Anyways, luckily it didn't even last 24 hours and I was able to go to work on Monday (but I couldn't go Sunday)

Then on Monday after work, Conor Nate and I went to the driving range...I did alright I guess, I enjoyed myself.

THEN this morning I woke up to Conor AND Nathan being sick at the same time. Anyone who's been in our little apartment knows that you can hear EVERYTHING, they've been sick for the rest of today.

Poor us!

Long time, no update

I know, I know - I'm a bad girl, but I will update soon.

Nate is here, been doing some fun stuff.

Conor and him went down the great ocean road on Sunday while I worked.

We went to the BOTANIC gardens (I highlight botanic because they kept calling them Botanical...but they are botanic) yesterday and I got attacked by a killer cactus...not fun, still pulling little spikes out of my shoulder.

They went to the museum, war memorial and the market.

Tonight we're going to footy!

Tomorrow we might head to the beach if it is nice, and then we're going to play poker with some friends.

So I'll put up pics soon, I promise!

How could I forget

I won at poker last night!!

Well, technically Conor did, but I gave him a good head start. He went out, and I was soo tired for my big ordeal earlier that day, that I gave my chips over to him and went and had a nap!

And when I came back there were just three people left, and then Conor cleaned up!

Yay me!

All-things-British

Elizabeth Bennet (ME!), Gwenevere (Monica) and Meg

Since Monica is moving to London in a few weeks, there was a costume party with an "All-things British". (They called it a "fancy dress party" which caused alot of confusion for me, thinking they meant "dress nicely/suit and tie" and it turns out they mean costume...you Canadians, would you think costume if someone said fancy dress?)

Helen made an AMAZING dress, and it was a pleasure to wear it

Anyways, moving on, my co-worker made a pride and prejudice style dress for an event she went to a couple months ago, and as soon as I realized they meant costume party, I thought of that dress...but I didn't really want to ask if I could wear it :) So instead I was telling her how I was going to this party and didn't know what to wear, and she said "you should wear my dress! and I'll come do your hair!". Haha, problem solved!!

Aww, Monica and I

Meg and I

So I went as Elizabeth Bennet. Conor had no idea what to wear, so he ended up just wearing his suit and tie and we would try to pass him off as Mr. Darcy (even though it was NOT what Mr. Darcy would wear). Well it turned out pretty good, people would guess right away I was Elizabeth Bennet (or someone from Jane Austens work) and then in turn would say that Conor was Mr. Darcy.

It was a fun night...but sad, cuz we'll miss Monica.

These is from the JPII Grad a last month

One small comment, to those of you who may have strong feelings against the British **wink wink**, no need to comment on it ;)

Daylight Savings

Conor and I have only successfully navigated our way through daylight savings ONCE in this country...and it was NOT today!!

I work up this morning at my usual time - ready to eat and get ready before going to mass and then to work right afterwards. It was just past 8am when Conor asks me when the time change happens.

Mass hysteria erupts (well, maybe not mass, but I think I caused enough chaos to say that)

I start freaking out, because I realize that yes, this weekend is the time change, which means that it's really 9am!! If I wanted to go to mass I would have had to take the 830 tram, so that was out of the question...but the bigger concern being that to get to WORK on time, to which I am the only one with a key, and access to the safe, etc would mean taking the 9:02 tram!!

So I just started freaking out:
  1. How am I going to get to work on time? I don't even have the number to a cab
  2. I haven't even finished getting dressed yet
  3. I haven't eaten breakfast
  4. I missed mass, which means I'll have to go after work, but we have poker tonight
  5. I absolutely hate myself at this moment
  6. WHY do I always miss this time change!!!!!

Then, my amazing husband Conor, while trying to calm me down, instructs me to turn on the computer and go onto the internet to find a cab number (while he makes my lunch - I love him!)

Then comes the "doy-yoy-yoy" moment, when the computer comes on it has already adjusted the time...and instead of saying 9am...or even 8am for that matter...it informs me that it is 7am!!

If I were in Canada then yes, the clocks would "spring forward" - but I am in Australia, and it's autumn right now, meaning that the clocks "fall back".

Now I hate myself even worse than before, and am mad that I didn't get my extra hour of sleep that everyone else in this country will get!

It's just going to be one of those days.

April Fools!!

There was this earth-hour thing here on Saterday Night
At 8pm for an hour you were asked to have your lights off
So this place we went to for a birthday party was all lit with candles...
it was really beautiful (I don't take credit for the pic though!)

I just realized it's April Fools day and no one has preformed any pranks on me. Since it's past noon now I guess I'm safe! I used to always be afraid that Dan would do something, like change the clocks...so I always made sure I kept my watch with me at all times, and instead of setting my regular alarm for the morning of April 1, I would set my watch alarm instead, so that I would wake up when I wanted to wake up...but I don't think he ever did change the clocks, so all that for nothing!

I had a really good weekend. On Friday night Helen, Jennifer and David (co-workers from the bookshop) came over to our place for pizza and a movie. We've all been talking about watching Jane Austen's "Persuassion", and Jennifer owns it, so they came over on Friday night - good times had by all.

Then on Saterday this new-ish friend of ours, Bronwyn, was having a birthday party at some place in the city, and we were invited. It wasn't until 8pm, so we decided we would go to mass at the Cathedral at 6:30 first, and then grab something to eat and then go to the birthday party.

Blair, Bronwyn (Birthday Girl!) and Meg (she will be with our WYD group)

At about 5:40 I all of the sudden realized that I didn't think mass at the Cathedral would be on at 6:30, but 6...so I checked online and sure enough it was for 6 and we wouldn't have had time to get ready and go :(

So then I thought I would check the other parishes in the area and see if there was on with a 6:30 mass. Well the only one that did was one in a Vietnamese area, but on the internet it lists which of it's mass were in Vietnamese and which weren't and it didn't say it was in vietnamese, so we decided to go there.

Blair, Cat (with baby in tummy due very soon!) and Bronwyn

When we walked in the choir was practising...in Vietnamese. I hoped that maybe just the singing would be like that, but the rest of the mass would be in English, so we sat down. And then this guy came up to us and asked if we'd ever been there before ("No"), did we know that it was a Vietnamese mass ("no") and did we want to bring the hosts up, he would tell us when ("we'll have to think about it") We decided that we didn't really wanna sit through a Vietnamese Mass, so we kindly said no and left.

Meg and I

Then we went back home, ate, and went to the birthday (Conor would go to the Cathedral for Mass in the morning, and I would go afterwork on Sunday at the parish next door).

So we went to Bronwyns Birthday, and like I said, we haven't really been friends with her for that long. We've kinda known her since we got here, but recently we've been seeing alot more of her, and she's even in the NFP class at JPII with her sister. Anyways, I knew that she was friends with some of the same people as us, but I didn't know who all was going to be there - I was a little worried we wouldn't have anyone to talk to. When we got there it was just her, her ex, and his friend...I was glad Conor had some boys to talk it. In the end we knew almost everyone who was there so we had alot of people to talk to, and 11:30 came really quickly, so we eventually got a ride home then with Louisa (who we play poker with once a month) - we would have stayed later but I had to work in the morning.

Me, Father Denton (also coming to WYD with us), Gary, Brownyn, Gary's friend (I can't remember his name!), Conor and Louisa

All in all it was a good weekend :)

This weekend is Monica's going away - its a fancy dress party (which doesn't mean dress nice and in suits, it means costume party) "All Things British" theme...and I'm borowing something to wear from a friend...I won't tell you what it is, you'll see in the pics.

Then the next weekend Conor's brother Nathan will be here!
