So this week, especially Wednesday, I was really homesick. The weather was kind of blah, I was feeling bad for myself that I only see other english speaking people on the weekends (usually), and a couple other reasons. I was just homesick.
Sometimes you just want to get away, there's not a lot to see in this little beach town, but the train can be a pain... I sometimes miss having a car. Anyways, what would I do if I was feeling this way and I had a car?? I would go SHOPPING! (Note: I wouldn't necessarily buy stuff, but just walking around a mall trying stuff on is fun!)
So I talked to our friends Eleonora and Kevin (who have a car) and asked them if they wanted to do a shopping trip sometime. There were a few things I needed to get, which I couldn't get from any place I could take a train to. She said they were available Friday afternoon, so we made a double date (plus child) plan to head to the same mall that she took me to on my birthday.
We went to H&M first, because they have good prices and a maternity section. I had three things on my list: maternity t-shirts, maternity camisole/tank top, and track/lounge pants. I was able to get a couple t-shirts and a tank top there. But not the track pants.
I also made a silly error with Finn's clothing choice coming here. I brought all of his size 2 stuff, but only 2 pairs of size 3 pants. Both of which are jeans. Now he's almost outgrown all his size 2 pants (save for one pair of nice khakis which is are 2 but very long), so I wanted one more pair of pants that weren't jeans, and I (Conor rather) found a great plain pant that will work for dress or casual. Oh and I got him some socks.
Then we went to Decathlon and I found some track pants there, and a fleece pull over for Finn. He has this OBSESSION with taking off jackets once we're outside... no matter how cold it is. And his two other sweaters are getting too small, so I needed something warm that I could pull over his head and he couldn't just unzip and take off as soon as we got outside!
Okay, the next parts are the best! We went to the Lindt store - YUMM! and bought some Lindors that you can't just buy at the grocery store (mint, orange and hazelnut - there were a lot more, but they are $$$ and those are my faves), and then headed to another mall across the street for Burger King. I had been telling Eleonora about my McDonalds and Pizza Hut cravings, so she said when we went shopping we would go somewhere fast food... it was so yum!
We wandered around that mall for awhile - they went to a housewares store to get some plates and stuff, and then afterwards we went into a pet store and looked at fish, birds, mice (eww - who BUYS mice), Chinchillas, and Bunnies!! Finn loved it. By then it was 9, past Finn's bedtime! So we went home.
It was great - I love retail therapy!
** Oh, and we are half way through our last year here (well, our last 8 months). Not sure exactly what date we will be flying home... but probably the 28th, or within a week from there!!!
